Anna started as a Post Doc Research Fellow at the Centre for Competition Policy in September 2011. Before joining the CCP she worked as Teaching Fellow at the University of Bristol, while she was completing her PhD. She studied at "Tor Vergata" University of Rome where she obtained her MSc in International Economics (2006), and PhD in Economics (2010).

Anna's research interests span across different areas of industrial economics and applied microeconomics. In her current research she investigates the role played by the international patent law in the pharmaceutical sector, both from a theoretical and empirical point of view.

At an empirical level she studied whether the increased strength of IPR has effectively spurred the international cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector between WTO members, measured by patents and scientific publications. On the other hand, in her theoretical work dealing with a dynamic game between a single innovative firm and a foreign government, she provides a welfare analysis that accounts for investment decisions in R&D under a regime of parallel trade, examining different policy interventions.

In the near future she would like to explore in more depth the interactions between IP, firms behaviour, and competition policy, and the possibility of defining an optimal level of coexistence between competition law and innovation policy. The other research thread she has just started to investigate is the effects of the regulation restrictions on competition in the broadcasting industry.
