John Street is Professor in the School of Political, Social and International Studies. He is the author of several books, including Politics and Technology, Politics and Popular Culture, and Mass Media, Politics and Democracy, and is co-author of Deciding Factors in British Politics. He is a member of the Editorial Group of Popular Music and is on the International Advisory Board of Cultural Politics. He has just completed an ESRC project (with Dr Sanna Inthorn) on popular culture and political engagement.

His current research focuses on cultural policy in the UK, the relationship between competition and creativity, and on media regulation and political communication.
